Matthew Cutts

Administrator, USDS

Administrator, U.S. Digital Service

Cutts is a prime example of the kind of tech talent the government tries so hard to attract. Formerly the head of the webspam team at Google, Cutts joined government to lead the White House team on an acting basis in January 2017. He got the official nod in October 2018. His experience both inside and outside government means he’s great at helping other technologists bridge that gap. “For people who come directly from the technology industry, government can be a bit of a culture shock,” he told FedScoop. “The gravity feels a little different in D.C. compared to the technology industry. So finding ways to help people make that transition is critical.”
