CTO, U.S. Air Force

Konieczny has a broad portfolio at one of the military’s most IT-reliant branches. Before coming to the Air Force, he worked with the AT&T Government Solutions professional services business unit for a decade. When it comes to building a suitable workforce, agencies should target trainable employees who must then be “adequately compensated” to ensure retention, Konieczny said. Mentoring also is important because there can be “confusion as to what is the best course of action for career progression, and we can provide insights into various roles and responsibilities,” he said.
